4 Questions Before Setting Your Goals

⏰ Mindset Minute

{January 3, 2023}

Happy 2023! 🎉

You made it through another year and it’s time for a fresh start!

Right about now there’s a lot of pressure to set “specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound” (S.M.A.R.T.) goals— I have an unpopular opinion about that, but that’s for another time.

But, before you do that, I’ve got a little hack for you to help make your goal setting more effective and, in turn, more achievable.

Before you dive into what you’d like to accomplish this year, ask yourself these four questions to reflect and review this past year:

  1. WHAT CAN YOU CELEBRATE?
    This is when you puff up your chest and say, “Yep, I did that!” Take the time to truly acknowledge your wins and accomplishments of 2022!

  2. WHERE DID YOU COME UP SHORT?
    This is the time to humble yourself a little and get super real about what you didn’t accomplish. Remain as objective as possible and simply state the facts.

  3. WHAT WORKED FOR YOU?
    What thoughts, beliefs, habits and mindsets got you your desired results? What influenced you in a positive way in 2022?

  4. WHAT DIDN’T WORK FOR YOU?
    What thoughts, beliefs, habits and mindsets held you back last year? What story loops kept you from taking action or kept you stuck?

These journal prompts have helped me so much in the past, and I know that they’ll help bring clarity to you and your 2023 goals!

I’d love for you to email me your answers and see what comes up for you!

Cheers to a new year and an elevated you! 🥳
