We Don’t Ask, We Don’t Get

⏰ Mindset Minute

{April 25, 2023}

Last week a friend of mine shared that he was going on a work trip to Greece, and out of nowhere I blurted, “Bring me back something cool!”

Seems harmless enough, but I’m not typically the type of person who blatantly asks someone to buy them a gift.

{Giving gifts is not Pumehana’s love language}

Hell, I give my in-laws push back when they ask me for my Christmas list.

Weird, right?

But for a lot of us, asking for what we need— let alone, what we want— is a continuous uphill battle.

Shortly after, my friend messaged, “I got you something!”

I squealed with delight, then said, “And now I just feel like a brat for even asking you 🙈.”

His response:

“We don’t ask, we don’t get.”

How true is that, though?

How often do we go into a situation with a “whatever happens, happens,” mindset?

Or, “Maybe I’ll just ‘hope’ for what I want, but if I don’t get it, it wasn’t ‘meant to be.’”

Why do we do that?

Is it fear of rejection?

Fear of disappointment?

Whatever it is… it’s not serving us.

This week, my love, I challenge you to be bold, audacious, and (best of all) UNCOMFORTABLE in your ask.

See what kind of magic happens when you lean into your discomfort and advocate for your desires.

Remember…

We don’t ask, we don’t get.

Now, go out and get it!
