Rest and Release

The other day took my own advice and made time for a mental health day.
It was weird.
I tuned into my body, and gave it what it asked for.
Netflix and bed.
I’d love to say that I did it without judgement or anxiety, but who are we kidding?
It was interesting to notice the judgement and guilt ridden narrative that came up…
“Is this really how you’re choosing to spend your day?”
“Are you sure this isn’t one of those ‘push through’ kind of days?”
“What if you feel this way tomorrow? Are you just going to ‘rest and reset,’ for the rest of your life?”
It was pretty brutal.
But taking this time and taking this day was more than just resting because I was tired.
It sent the message to my nervous system that it is safe to listen to my body and give it what it needs.
It’s safe to hold boundaries and prioritize well-being over “the hustle.”
I decided that addressing the judgy comments were for another day. This time, it was just one of those “notice and let it go,” kind of days.
The energy in the world has been heavy and dark lately.
Remember that you can always choose to step into and be the light for others.
