We’ve seen it before in the movies, and maybe even experienced it ourselves. The kiddo is tucked into bed, lights go out, and mommy leaves. Moments later a terrified, “Mooooooom,” bellows from the darkened room, “there’s a scary monster in the corner!”
The lights flick on and lo and behold, situated in the corner of the room is nothing but a pile of clothes and toys where a silhouette presented itself as a nefarious beast in the uncertainty of the night.
Now, the simplicity of this obvious situation doesn’t make it any less illustrative.
It’s also important to note that just because the truth was revealed, it is no less “easier” for the little nugget to go back to sleep. There is still remnants of the fear and unease that needs to subside in order to move on.
Same goes for you, my love. The questions below will shed light on the unknown, but it is up to you sit with answers, self-soothe, and find enough peace to move forward.
With that in mind, reflect on the following questions:
What am I avoiding?
(e.g., the dishes in the sink, the text left unanswered, the difficult conversation with so-and-so, etc.)What am I afraid of?
(Put pen to paper and list out every possible unwanted scenario. It’s enlightening 😉)

Ego is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday— I’ve been wanting to read this book for years and I finally invested in it. I love how Ryan Holiday uses both historical and contemporary figures to illustrate how ego manifests in our lives. He shares how even “the greats” were not exempt from the daily struggle of our egoic nature, and how they both buckled and rose above it. It’s an incredible read. I highly suggest this one.
Girlfriends and Business podcast — When I first started my coaching business back in 2021, I learned about this gem of a podcast. It was everything I needed to hear as I was navigating the unknown of entrepreneurship. If you’re a female SBO (small business owner) who enjoys raw, real, no-bullshit conversations about the ups and down of being a CEO, this podcast is for you. It’s encouraging, validating and educational all in one!
